What Does Sin Do?
Updated: Feb 17

Hi & welcome back, reader! I pray you're having a blessed day, and may Jesus Christ be your Perfect Peace!
Today, I'm gonna talk about what sin does, & specifically the following:
"Sin makes you hide from God."
"Sin makes you ashamed."
"Sin makes you it's slave."
"Sin makes you play the blame game"
& "Sin separates YOU from God!"
Like I mentioned in the previous post, a disciple's #1 resource should be the Bible, and of course, I will show you these specifics in the Bible.
You may also view the individual pictures on the blog's IG (@tamarstestimony).
At the end of this post, I will insert the TikTok video I did on this topic (just incase you are a visual or audio learner).
Let's begin!
Sin Makes You HIDE, ASHAMED, & It's SLAVE!

Genesis 3:8, "And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden." KJV Version.
Now the previous scripture (Genesis 3:7), we know Adam & Eve found out they were naked AFTER SINNING against God: they saw their nakedness, & sewed fig leaves together because they were ashamed.
As mentioned in Genesis 3:8, Adam & Eve hid themselves. They were ashamed. They were naked. They just sinned against God. How could they face the Almighty God?
YOU may do this.
For example, you can be a Christian, but you're still going toe-to-toe with lust. One night, you're alone in bed. It's 3am. You're scrolling on your phone. Next thing you know, you're on Twitter. Searching topics that aren't meant for your spirit. The topics get you "fired" up. You carry out the "pleasurable" deed. & BOOM! YOU just committed the sin of pornography. Masturbation. Fornication, which is sex OUTSIDE a God-ordained covenant between a man AND a woman). Sexual immorality. LUST.
By the way, pornography, masturbation, & fornication, which is a type of sexual immorality, ALL fall under the same umbrella: LUST. As we know, lust is of this world and NOT of the Father (1 John 2:16).
I just wanted to break it down for you.

Back to the story,
Now, you're ashamed. You may even feel disgusted:
"How can I approach God with this?!"
Instead of repenting, a lot of people will continue in a cycle of sin because they can't face God. YET, they're only making it worse. You are now...becoming a slave to sin (Romans 6:16). The example I provided can also apply to unbelievers. A lot of unbelievers will stop watching porn or stop masturbating because they're disgusted or hate the fact, "I'm a porn-addict".
BE FREE FROM LUST! I made a post titled, How To Overcome Lust (here), so check that out!
No matter what the sin is, do NOT let the enemy blackmail you. Do NOT be a slave to sin. Take accountability. Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up in that area (James 4:10). Ask for His forgiveness. Go before the Lord and cleanse your dirty robe and I mean THOUROUGHLY wash it in His blood, so it can come out WHITE as snow. No blemish. No spot. Just like Him.
I also like to say this:
"If I'm bold enough to commit the sin Infront of God, I should be bold enough to ask for His forgiveness."
Sin Makes You Play The Blame Game!

Genesis 3:11, "And he said, Who told thee that thou was naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?" KJV Version.
Genesis 3:12, "And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat." KJV Version.
Genesis 3:13, "And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat." KJV Version.
You see how they both said, "...and I did eat", after mentioning what the other individual did? Why didn't Adam just say, "Lord, I did eat of the tree thou told me not to eat." But no, "The woman whom thou gavest to be with me..." was first. Then Eve, "The serpent beguiled me...". How many of us do this? Not taking COMPLETE ownership of our OWN actions? By complete, I mean without mentioning anyone or anything else. For example:
A dad could say, "Sarah, do not be out past 10!". Sarah heard the rule. But, sister said, "there's a party at 10, you wanna come?". Sarah said, "sure.". Now, Sarah comes back home at 12am. Sarah's dad is waiting for her at THE FRONT DOOR (kinda scary, not gonna lie to yah),
"Sarah, what time is it?!".
"I know but there was a party, and even sis was out late--"
"I told YOU to not be out past 10!"
Now, if you're a black kid that grew up with a preacher as a father, this scenario would not happen. I'm talking about myself. I am the black preacher's kid.
I have never been to a teen party. Homecoming. or Prom. So, this scenario is exactly what it is: A SCENARIO! I couldn't even go nowhere without my dad giving the "You may go." response & I dared NOT to sneak out. I was too scared God would give my dad a dream of me sneaking out. God has told my dad many things his kids were doing behind his back. Imagine trying to HABITUALLY sin in a home with a dad that has that deep of a relationship with God, "Yeah, go check her phone." I had NO doubt God existed because who is telling this man these things?!
"WHO. IS. YOUR. SUPPLIER?!"
Plus, we had an alarm system.
But, I'm thankful for his protection and the "no, you can't go" remarks. Look at me now: I'm saved. So I can't complain, yah know?
BACK TO THE STORY:
Miss Sarah was supposed to say NO to her sister but yah know, she wanted to be "grown". Ended up playing the blame game. She could've received a well-needed-and-rested nap but NO! Disobeying dad was more fun. As you read, Sarah immediately mentioned the party & the actions of her sister, instead of saying, "Dad, you are right. You did tell me, and I did disobey your rule."
Thus, the blame game.
TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY OF YOUR SINS. When you go before Jesus asking for forgiveness, it should be something like this:
"Jesus, I have transgressed against thee. I have offended thee. I have sinned. Forgive me for this." YOU committed the sin. YOU own up to it. YOU do not play the blame game.
***DISCLAIMER BEFORE THE NEXT PART***

Now, read this carefully:
"If I'm a Christian and I commit a sin, I'm separated from God?!"
This is NOT what I'm saying. This next segment is specifically for people HABITUALLY walking in sin. If you are HABITUALLY walking in sin, you are separated from God. Yes, God sees you, but you do not have a relationship with Him. Why do you think Jesus is gonna tell a lot of people, "I never knew you"? If you choose a life of HABITUALLY walking in sin, then you are choosing to be separated from God. Separating yourself from a relationship you could have if you weren't sinning.
Now Christians!
Whenever you sin, go repent. Do NOT and I mean DO NOT take God's GRACE for granted. When you sin, GO REPENT. Go ask for His forgiveness. If you know you are committing a sin right now, and you do not repent, YOU. ARE. IN. REBELLION. Read this:
1 Samuel 15:23, "For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king." KJV Version.
Rebellion is AS the sin of witchcraft! Doesn't sound good, does it? Go repent. You may be reading this with a sin upon your heart. Go. Repent. Don't outweigh your good deeds with the so-called bad. GO REPENT! Sin is sin. God does not compromise sin, so why do you get to? I was doing this and was convicted HARD. I mean a boulder of conviction pierced my heart, I went on my knees (crying), and I repented.
Sin Separates YOU from God!

Genesis 3:23, "Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken." KJV Version.
Genesis 3:24, "So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life." KJV Version.
God DROVE Adam out of the garden of Eden. The very place where God created Adam. The place where Man & God built a relationship together. Adam was separated from his God. When he sinned, Adam lost the intimate relationship he had with God.
Sin separates you from God. God will not dwell in a temple full of wickedness. As a disciple of Christ, the Holy Spirit dwells in me because I gave my life to Christ: I confessed my sins; I asked for forgiveness of my sins; I repented of my sins (& still do); & I'm now trying to live a holy-submitted life to Jesus Christ.
But for people that are HABITUALLY living in sin, you have no connection to God. All you have is the spirit He gave you: "the breath of life" mentioned in Genesis 2:7.
This is what I like to say:
"If this is God's spirit that's giving me breath that means He has ABSOLUTE control over my life. At ANY moment He can say, 'Spirit I command you to leave that vessel." & I would be dead."
Need More Truth?

Isaiah 59:1-2, "Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: (2) But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear." KJV Version.
Based on the latter scripture, what causes God to hide His face from us? What causes God not to hear us? What causes separation between man and God? Our iniquities. Our transgressions. Our sins.
Sin separates you from God. Sin is the barrier between the fellowship of MAN & God. This is why God manifested into flesh to REMOVE such barrier. He WANTS to have a relationship with us, but we have to want one with Him. In order to do that, WE NEED TO REPENT OF OUR SINS. Jesus' blood was given so we can do that.
Don't. Let. His. Blood. Be. In. Vain!

Well, this is the end!
I thank you for taking the time to read this blog post. I pray you use this information for the edification of yourself and others. Even though I provided scripture and you're not sure what I said was accurate, ALWAYS go before the Lord in prayer about what I said.
Never take my words for it that's why I try my best to provide scripture.
I also hope you enjoyed me inserting a few examples, including a little info about myself!
